The Industrial Revolution had left a deep imprint—coal mines and slate quarries powered the economy, while railways stitched together once-isolated communities. Yet amid this progress, age-old Welsh customs, language, and folklore remained strong, especially in the countryside.
These images, captured through the Photochrom process, bring the era vividly to life. Though originally black and white, they were painstakingly colorized to reflect the tones and textures of the time.
