A fan had given this stuffed flag gun to David Crosby earlier at show while on tour with Crosby, Stills, and Nash in 1970. The gun is made of cloth soft sculpture and decorated with stars and strips. The portraits were taken by Henry Diltz.
“I never went to photo school, I’ve never had a job, I never even thought about it,” Diltz said. “I just hung out with all my musician friends, taking photos. It’s been a fun, adventurous lifestyle.”
Despite that (or maybe because of it), he’s responsible for some the most iconic images of the 1960s and 70s, including these photos of David Crosby holding a toy gun made from the US flag to his head.
