To become the glamorous new wave mega-stars, Blondie had to put a lot of hard work into making it happen. The rehearsal sessions were a musical free-for-all.
“Debbie has some drum skills and I once recorded a track that she played on,” Chris Stein recalled. “We shared this rehearsal space with various other bands in a Midtown Manhattan building.”
Before the limos... though, there was the hard graft of New York rehearsals in a studio on 37th Street during 1975.
“This shot was taken early on, right after Clem had joined us,” Stein said. “That’s him on the left in the black t-shirt, playing guitar left-handed. Gary is on the right. Debbie seems to be dubious about the noises being produced around her.”
The rehearsal session was documented by Chris Stein.
