These photographs were actually taken by noted photographer Lynn Goldsmith at Studio 54 in 1978. This was the same year that Brooke Shields starred in Pretty Baby. It was also the year Blondie recorded a song entitled “Pretty Baby,” on their 1978 LP Parallel Lines.
Brooke Shields was left speechless after Debbie Harry revealed she had penned the song “Pretty Baby” about the actress. Shields was just 12 years old when she starred in the controversial 1978 film Pretty Baby, in which she played a child prostitute and appeared nude.
Shortly afterwards, Harry released a track of the same name on her band Blondie’s album Parallel Lines, but it wasn’t until later that Shields found out the rocker had written the tune just for her.
In an interview with Access Hollywood, Shields says, “She wrote ‘Pretty Baby’ about me… When I heard that I couldn’t believe it. I knew it was in the Parallel Lines album, but I had no idea prior. When I met her, I was 16 at this point, she told me she had written the song about me and I practically fainted. I just couldn’t believe it… I was obsessed with her when I was younger.”
