Stunning Photos of Irène Tunc in the 1950s and ’60s

Born 1935 in Nord, French actress and model Irène Tunc was elected Miss France 1954 at the age of 19, at the Évian-les-Bains casino. She quickly started an acting career, first in Italy. After two films, she returns to France and settles in Paris where she pursues her career as a model. She then joined a drama school directed by Françoise Rosay. She then played in many films and TV films, shot with French and Italian directors.


From 1958 to 1964, Irène Tunc was married to the Belgian director Ivan Govar. She then married filmmaker Alain Cavalier. She appeared in 35 films and television shows between 1955 and 1971.

Irène Tunc died in 1972, at the age of 37, following her injuries in a car crash. Alain Cavalier dedicated the film Irène released in 2009 to her. Take a look at these stunning photos to see portraits of a young Irène Tunc in the 1950s and 1960s.
