Lillian (1893-1993) and Dorothy Gish (1898-1968) were film legends in their own time; actresses who changed the perception of what screen acting could be at a time when films were thought to be "low art" at best. Though the sisters achieved global stardom on the silver screen, they never forgot their Ohio roots.

ReplyDeleteThe makeup doesn't allow for Mr. Karloff's usual expressive face. But despite that, he must have been smiling internally imagining the effect of these photos on people.
