The Beatles at Lunch in London, October 1963

Lunchtime on Friday, October 4, 1963 at the Star Steak House, close to NEMS’ London office on Monmouth Street. Later that afternoon, The Beatles’ would make their first Ready Steady Go! TV appearance.

When this picture was taken, “She Loves You” was at number one in the UK charts. It had been released on August 23rd, with advanced orders of 500,000, and spent 6 weeks at number one. The single that arguably started proper Beatlemania. John Lennon was 22 and looking forward to his 23rd birthday on the October 9th, the following week.
