35 Vintage Photos of Sue Carol in the 1920s and ’30s

Born 1906 as Evelyn Jean Lederer in Chicago, Illinois, American actress and talent agent Sue Carol entered the film industry in the late 1920s and quickly gained popularity for her charm and beauty, starring in films like Fox Movietone Follies of 1929 and Girls Gone Wild (both 1929).

After retiring from acting in the early 1930s, Carol transitioned into a successful career as a talent agent. She founded the Sue Carol Agency, through which she managed several Hollywood stars. Her most notable client—and husband—was Alan Ladd, whom she helped shape into a major film star of the 1940s and ’50s.

Carol’s influence in Hollywood extended beyond her on-screen roles, as she played a significant behind-the-scenes role in the careers of many actors. She passed away in Los Angeles in 1982. Take a look at these vintage photos to see the beauty of a young Sue Carol in the 1920s and 1930s.
