Rare Photos of Deleted Scenes From “For a Few Dollars More” (1965)

There are a few deleted scenes from Sergio Leone’s 1965 western Per Qualche Dollaro in Più (For a Few Dollars More). Unlike his next film The Good, the Bad and the Ugly, the differences between the Italian version and the American/International version are fairly minor. A few scenes like the one below were cut during the editing process, before the film was released.

One notable deleted scene involves Clint Eastwood’s character, Monco, sharing an intimate moment with Mara Krupp’s character, the hotel manager’s wife. Photographs from this scene have surfaced over the years, indicating it was filmed but later removed, possibly to maintain the enigmatic nature of Eastwood’s character.

This deleted scene is part of a small “sub-plot” which is still partially intact in the film. The “landlady” of the hotel that Manco is staying at is married to the owner of the hotel, who happens to be a very short man. Already Manco has been told that the landlady “doesn’t care” that she is married. The landlady is obviously attracted to Manco, commenting that he is “tall,” which of course irritates her husband.
