Tamara Nyman: One of the Top Fashion Models in Europe During the 1960s

Born 1939 in Suojärvi, Raja-Karelia, Finnish-born former fashion model Tamara Nyman came as evacuees to Mänttä with family. Immediately after the wars, she moved in with relatives in Sweden, where she went to school. In Stockholm, she was discovered by the French photographer Gilbert Roy, and her international modeling career took off.

In 1958, the Nyman family left Finland to become immigrants to Vancouver, Canada, and soon Tamara was able to model in the United States. She made an international career in New York and Paris in the early 1960s with her sister Kecia Nyman.

Nyman was married to Prince Albrecht of Liechtenstein, who she met in New York in 1962 and used the title Baroness of Landskron. Their marriage in 1966 lasted about five years and they had two children. They lived in Paris until their divorce in 1971, and since then Tamara Nyman has lived in Zurich, Switzerland.
