Yellow Brook is an unincorporated community located in Howell Township, which is in Monmouth County, New Jersey. The area is relatively rural and residential, with a mix of wooded lands, farms, and suburban homes. It’s not a large or heavily populated area, so it may not be as well-known as some other parts of New Jersey.
The name “Yellow Brook” likely derives from a nearby stream or brook, although details on its exact origins are somewhat limited. Howell Township itself is located in central New Jersey and offers a mix of suburban and rural environments. It’s also close to major highways like Route 9, providing relatively easy access to other parts of Monmouth County and New Jersey.
These wonderful vintage photos from Shane Egan were taken by Raivo Luik, an Estonian-American engineer from Lincroft, New Jersey who passed in 2010, that show Yellow Brook, New Jersey in winters from 1967 to 1969.
These photos capture a timeless beauty of a simpler era. The snowy landscapes, the rustic barns, and the playful dog evoke a sense of nostalgia and peace.
