Andy Warhol’s allure and mystery drew attention from just about everyone from the 1960s to the 1980s—both peers and fans alike. The artist was notoriously private, but even still, he was a staple in New York City nightlife, and was frequently spotted out and about with A-listers, like Bianca Jagger, Liza Minnelli, and Elizabeth Taylor.
United by their love of partying, Jagger and Warhol spent much of the 1970s tearing up the dancefloor at Studio 54. Unlike most of Warhol’s acolytes, Bianca Jagger was famous in her own right – not just for being Rolling Stones frontman Mick Jagger’s first wife, but also for her activism – so wasn’t so indebted to him. This might go some way to explain why she sued his estate following his death, after she took umbrage at the way she was portrayed in his memoirs as ‘unintelligent’.
