Incredible Photos of a Forced Roof-Landing in San Jose in 1964

Joseph M. Hanon, 46, of Los Altos, was trying for the landing field of the Reid-Hillview Airport in San Jose on Sunday October 11, 1964, but a miscalculating left him atop the home of Ed Przemielelewski at 2110 Bay Haven in the Tropicana Village district. Hanon said the plane failed to respond to controls. Both the plane and the roof were heavily damaged, but Hanon and his son, Gene, 17, climbed down from the roof uninjured.

That was a serious skill to put that aircraft down there, without destroying the aircraft or the house. If it was removed properly, both should have been able to resume normal function with a little repair work.

These incredible photos were found by Mark Susina that show a forced roof-landing of a Cessna aircraft in San Jose, California on Sunday October 11, 1964.
