L’urlo (English: The Howl) is a 1968 film directed by Tinto Brass and starring Gigi Proietti and Tina Aumont. It was presented in the Directors’ Fortnight at the 1970 Cannes Film Festival.
A young bride escapes from her wedding with a stranger. They encounter talking animals, journey through a surrealist’s psychedelic hotel, instigate a prison riot, and escape from naked cannibals living in a tree.
L’urlo was filmed inside the prison on the island of Santo Stefano and in Sermoneta. The film dates back to 1968, however its distribution has suffered considerable delays due to censorship and has only been shown in Italian cinemas since 1974 with a ban on children under 18.
These fabulous photos were taken by Italian photographer Chiara Samugheo show amazing portraits of Tina Aumont during the filming of L’urlo in 1968.
