Cramming into clubs packed with big hair, booze and pounding music was a rite of passage in the 1980s. No sensible drinking cautions, no smoking bans, and generally less moderation of everything.
These fascinating photos were taken by Bruce Lorenz that show people (mostly his friends) at bar Hutley’s, 501 Main St, Islip, NY (Now Maxwell’s) in 1984.
Someone went nuts with their Poloroid one evening..
ReplyDeletePoloroids were more 70s, 80s became the decade of disposable cameras... I just found one a couple of months ago in an old box, undeveloped.
DeleteI can't decide which was worse: the styles of the '80s or the '70s.
ReplyDeleteThey both sucked.
DeleteYou had to be there...these photos do not represent the '80s or the amazing styles thereof. They do remind me of a bbq after a day of golf tho...not everyone was a club kid in the '80s, and they tended to have more style.
