Richard Burton and Ava Gardner, 1964

Ava Gardner first met Richard Burton on the set of their film The Night of the Iguana (1964). In her book, Ava: My Story, she shared that “he was like someone I would’ve liked to have had for a brother, and his teasing manner made me feel at ease. The good actors, the great ones are always there, because they know what that support really means... and Richard Burton was always there.”
