Dame Margaret “Maggie“ Smith, CH, DBE is an English film, stage and television actress who made her stage debut in 1952. She has had an extensive, varied career in stage, film and television spanning over sixty years. Smith has appeared in over 50 films and is one of the UK’s most recognizable actresses.
She first drew praise for the crime film Nowhere to Go (1958), directed by Seth Holt in his directorial debut. It also stars George Nader, Bernard Lee, Harry H. Corbett and Bessie Love. The plot concerns a criminal who escapes from jail and attempts to recover his stashed loot but is shunned by the criminal community and hunted by the police.
