Hans Zimmer (born 1957) is a German film score composer and music producer. He has won two Oscars and four Grammys, and has been nominated for two Emmys and a Tony. Zimmer was also named on the list of Top 100 Living Geniuses, published by The Daily Telegraph.
He is a composer known for scoring films like The Lion King, Pirates of the Caribbean, The Dark Knight series, Man of Steel, Gladiator, and many others. His scoring style is somewhat minimalist compared with other composers, and he is known to blend Orchestral and Synthetic sounds in his works.
His synth hoard has grown substantially over the years. He states that he purchased the giant modular setup on the far wall at the height of the “digital audio revolution” of the 1980s, a time when Analog was purported to be “obsolete.” So, he was able to buy them in bulk on the (relative) cheap. No doubt his original Moog setup predates this, and no doubt those of us who lived through this era wish we had this foresight (their value has climbed substantially through time).
