Ringo’s Head in a Box, 1966

Ringo: I can’t play me drums anymore, I’m only a head in a box.
John: S’what you get for arsking for more than ten shillings a week, i’nt it?

John Lennon and Ringo Starr have some fun with a cardboard box in this portrait taken at Vale Studios in London on March 25, 1966. This was part of the famous “Butcher Sleeve Session,” a series of surreal photographs that played on The Beatles’ celebrity.
