Diana Ross and Michael Jackson Photographed by Norman Seeff, 1982

You may not know Norman Seeff by name, but you know his work; you’ve likely held an album cover shot by the man. Celebrated as one of the most noted photographers of the 1970s and ’80s, rock legends and celebrities alike have requested him, names like Blondie, The Rolling Stones, Frank Zappa, Ray Charles, Michael Jackson, Steve Martin, Diana Ross, Tina Turner, Steve Jobs… the list could go on and on.

The photographer first took photos of Michael Jackson and the Jackson 5 in 1976. He also took photos of Diana Ross and Michael Jackson in 1982.

“Diana asked for this shoot and what really struck me with this session was the tender relationship between Diana and Michael,” Seeff said. “I’d worked with Michael before and found him to be very shy and quiet. Shooting with Diana, though, he was clearly more comfortable and open with her there. It was really adorable to see what happened between them.”
