Mijanou Bardot (born Marie-Jeanne Bardot on May 5, 1938) is a French writer, businesswoman, and retired actress. She is best known as the younger sister of the iconic French actress Brigitte Bardot. Mijanou was born in Paris to Louis Bardot, an industrialist, and Anne-Marie Mucel. She and her sister were raised in a strictly Catholic household in the 16th arrondissement of Paris. She has been married to Belgian actor Patrick Bauchau since 1962.
Mijanou pursued an acting career following her sister’s success, though she was known for being more reserved and shy in front of the camera. Her first film role was in Women’s Club (1956). She appeared in approximately nine films, including Sex Kittens Go to College (1960) and La Collectionneuse (1967), where she starred alongside her husband.
She officially retired from acting around 1970, later stating that she felt uncomfortable on film sets and felt she “hadn’t done anything” with her days while acting. In 1979, after moving to the United States, she founded Espace Loggia, a furniture company specializing in innovative mezzanine and loft bed designs. She ran the successful business until selling it in 1992.
