After Star Wars, Harrison Ford continued to find success in his second franchise role, the heroic archaeologist Indiana Jones in Raiders of the Lost Ark (1981). It was also by this movie that Ford’s status as a leading man became cemented, and he would go on reprising his role throughout the rest of the decade in the prequel Indiana Jones and the Temple of Doom (1984) and the sequel Indiana Jones and the Last Crusade (1989).
Another notable role of the actor in this decade was Rick Deckard in the science-fiction film Blade Runner (1982). While not a commercial success at the time, the movie would carry on to become a cult classic and be regarded as one of Ford’s most highly criticized films. To prove himself versatile in acting, Ford starred in other drama and comedy films, including Witness (1985), The Mosquito Coast (1986), Frantic (1988) and Working Girl (1988).
