Just nine months after Priscilla and Elvis Presley celebrated their long-awaited nuptials, the former lovebirds welcomed their first and only daughter. Priscilla and Elvis became the mom and dad of Lisa Marie Presley after she arrived on February 1, 1968.
Although she said the “Can’t Help Falling in Love” crooner was “a great dad,” Priscilla joked that Elvis never changed a diaper. “Not ever. That wasn’t a man’s job,” she said.
Instead, Elvis figured his job as a dad was to give his daughter everything, including a fur coat. “I didn’t let her have it much because she was three!” Priscilla admitted to Closer. “Even when she lost a tooth, he gave her five bucks. I said, ‘Look, you can’t give her five dollars!’” But Elvis would say, “She’s Elvis Presley’s daughter!”
Life before Lisa was much different for Elvis and Priscilla. After welcoming their adorable little girl, Priscilla told Closer that their relationship went south.
“It was really difficult because we would still go out at night,” she explained, adding that both parties were to blame when it came to infidelity. “Elvis kept up his lifestyle.” Priscilla explained that she turned a blind eye “for as long as I could. But I did know that there was some finagling going on.”
The mom of one revealed she had enough of their tumultuous marriage when she filed for divorce in 1972, which ultimately became final in 1973.
