Three “housecars” as they were referred to at the time, two from Minnesota and one from the Dakotas and the travelers posed for this photo. The first and the third units appear to be professionally built.
In the 1920s, individual builders and manufactures began to convert panel trucks and buses to be used for camping. Designers patterned these housecars after airplanes, boats, and buses.
