The 1976 monster film King Kong is a remake of the 1933 film of the same name. It features Jeff Bridges, Charles Grodin, and Jessica Lange in her first film role. Lange, then a New York fashion model with no acting experience, reportedly beat out Meryl Streep and Goldie Hawn for the role. The film’s success helped launch Lange’s career and earned her the Golden Globe Award for Best Acting Debut – Female.
