Beauty salons were a bit of a mystery in the 1950s and ’60s. Women visited them more often than today – averaging two hours a week – but it was the men who ran the show.
An appointment at a hair salon for a shampoo and set was a weekly highlight for many women during the 1950s and 1960s.
