Stunning Portraits of Julia Roberts Taken by Michael Tighe From the Late 1980s and Early 1990s

The American actress was introduced to acting by her brother Eric and made her debut in Mystic Pizza, in 1988 before her big break in Steel Magnolias, in 1989. On the rise, Julia Roberts was trusted with international superstardom with her role as charming and sexy hooker in Gary Marshall's Pretty Woman, in 1990.

She rapidly became one the highest paid actresses of the world and attracted much media attention for her turbulent romantic relationships. She then appeared in the highly successful Sleeping with the Enemy and Hook, in 1991 but the overwhelming success of Pretty Woman and the continuous spotlight she suffered had become too enduring and the actress decided to take a break and returned to screens with The Pelican Brief, in 1993. She returned as audience's darling with My Best Friend's Wedding, in 1997 and Notting Hill, in 1999.

These wonderful photos of a young Julia Roberts were taken by talented photographer Michael Tighe from between the late 1980s and early 1990s. Michael Tighe is one of those photographers you can’t quite understand, yet definitely not ignore. His work during the 1970s with Hollywood stars and art people of New York is considered seminal when it comes to celebrity photography.
