For your enjoyment and ours, here’s a colorful collection of Soviet Christmas cards from a bygone era. Santa in the Space Age, the popularization of TV sets and telephones, wooden skis and an unsettling snowman are all given the nod in our edit of illustrated designs.

In Russia, it’s traditional to celebrate the New Year with an official five-day holiday from 1-5 January so most of the below cards, although full of Christmas scenes, in fact offer the greeting С новым годом! (that’s Happy New Year)…

  1. Ovo nema veze sa božičem. Rusi ga slave po julianskom kalendaru. Slavili su kao socijalistička zemlja jedino Novu Godinu.Sve ovo nema veze sa Budjonijem..
