Wonderful Color Photos of Amsterdam in the Early 1970s

The 1970’s are not only characterized by two oil crisis and the polarization between the left and right political movements but also by a pacifistic hippie culture. People are starting to pay more attention to the environment. Youth culture undergoes a change highlighted by the rise and demise of disco and punk music. In the business world the mainframe computer is replaced by the mini and at home, the coffee machine and color television are fully accepted.

Below is a wonderful color photo collection that shows the life and cityscape of Amsterdam in the early 1970s taken by photographer Jan Sijmons.
