Nancy Christenson Hendrickson (1886 – 1978) was the 6th child of Swedish immigrants. She was the first to be born on the family homestead along the Heart River near Mandan. Nancy attended school classes during the winter, but learned mostly from the many magazines her family subscribed to. In the 1920s, responsibility for the homestead fell to Nancy as her mother fell ill. She worked as a seamstress and engaged in animal photography. Many of her photos won awards and were sold in newspapers and magazines.
And here are some lovely and creative vintage photos of animals that she shot during her work.
