Amazing Portraits From the Cockpit During World War I

These photographs are taken by the pilot of the other guy in the plane (usually an instructor, as all are from training airfields), though a few are from the other guy of the pilot.

  1. The piolet sat in the rear seat of most WWI bi-planes. This was for balance, and also gave a better view to control the plane.
