Driving Around New York City in 1928

This fun clip is a wonderful glimpse of life in the big city; location shots give you a real feeling for how everyday folks lived. The scenes filmed in New York City are from the 1928 silent film Speedy, starring comedian Harold Lloyd and directed by Ted Wilde, but the order has been reworked from the original.

  1. Kid Auto Races was made the year before, at Keystone. This is from the making of By the Sea (Essanay 1915), with co-stars Edna Purviance, Leo White and Bud Jamison also pictured.
