ReplyDeletecannon and lighting a cigarette whilst two officers look on." The woman is Not a Navy Officer! First, no female officer would ever behave that way in public and in front of servicemen. Second, there were no female "officers" back then. Women weren't even in official branches of the military, in the U.S. or England. Third, if you look at the photo, it is clear she is merely wearing the hat that belongs to the man on the right.
Love your photos, but please try not to pass on misinformation.
