Wonderful Vintage Photos of Asia in the 1950s

Phil Roeder has uploaded some wonderful photos of Asia that his father took in the 1950s. Most of the photos he's posting to Flickr were taken over a one year period, between September 1953 and August 1954. He says:

"During the first half of the 1950s, my father served in the U.S. Air Force and for part of that time was based in Asia, primarily on Okinawa. He had the opportunity to travel around much of the region and these photos (with a few exceptions that include him) are ones he took of the places he visited: villages on Okinawa along with Hong Kong, Manila and Macau.

While my Dad returned home and become a successful dentist, I have no doubt that he had both the eye and the spirit to have been a great photographer."
