Born 1925 in Canning Town, Essex, English actress and singer Honor Blackman was best known for her roles in two iconic 1960s franchises: as Cathy Gale in the British TV series The Avengers (1962–1964) and as Bond girl Pussy Galore in Goldfinger (1964). Her portrayal of strong, intelligent, and independent female characters helped redefine the role of women in popular media during that era.
With her striking looks, judo-trained fighting skills, and commanding presence, Blackman became a feminist icon and a symbol of empowered femininity. Beyond these roles, she had a long and varied career in film, television, and theater, and was also active in politics later in life.
