Born 1940 in Chicago, Illinois, American actress Donna Mills began her career in the 1960s with appearances in soap operas like The Secret Storm and Love is a Many Splendored Thing, as well as film roles including Play Misty for Me (1971) opposite Clint Eastwood.
Mills is best known for her iconic role as Abby Cunningham on the prime-time television soap opera Knots Landing, which she starred in from 1980 to 1989. Her portrayal of Abby, a cunning and ambitious antagonist, became one of the most memorable characters in 1980s television, earning her critical acclaim and a strong fan following. Mills later continued to act in TV movies and guest roles, and made a return to daytime television in General Hospital in 2014, where she won a Daytime Emmy Award.
