Amazing Photos of the 1950 Ford Custom Deluxe Station Wagon

The 1950 Ford Custom Deluxe Station Wagon represents the early postwar “Shoebox” Ford design that revolutionized American automotive styling. Powered by a 226ci L-head inline six-cylinder engine generating 95bhp at 3,300rpm, this practical wagon combines utilitarian purpose with period charm. The engine works through a 3-speed manual transmission, while the chassis features independent coil-spring front suspension and a live rear axle with leaf springs.

For 1950, Ford revised its trim nomenclature, as Standard and Custom became Deluxe and Custom Deluxe respectively. This woody wagon was the premium offering in the lineup, featuring distinctive wood body panels that required regular maintenance. The attractive Sunland Beige exterior complements the warm tones of the wood body elements and tan interior upholstery.

The Custom Deluxe was available with either a 3.7L inline six or 3.9L V8 engine, with this example featuring the economical six-cylinder option. Ford produced 816,371 examples of the Custom Deluxe in 1950 across all body styles, with the woody wagon being among the most expensive and exclusive variants (about 29,000 were made).
