A January 1970 raid at a New Orleans motel resulted in the arrest of the Grateful Dead vocalist/guitarist and 18 other individuals. Police reported seizing an assortment of narcotics, including LSD, marijuana, and barbiturates.
Garcia’s arrest is referred to in “Truckin’”, a Dead song released later that year: “Busted, down on Bourbon Street. Set up, like a bowlin’ pin. Knocked down, it gets to wearin’ thin. They just won’t let you be.”
