Photographs of Bon Scott on Top of Angus Young’s Shoulders During Performances in the 1970s

Bon Scott, the iconic lead singer of AC/DC, was frequently seen riding on guitarist Angus Young’s shoulders during performances in the 1970s. This became one of the band’s signature live show antics. The image of Scott—wild-eyed, shirtless, often holding a mic or bottle—atop Young, who was clad in his trademark schoolboy outfit, captured the raw, rebellious energy of early AC/DC.

This move usually occurred during extended jam sessions or solos, especially during songs like “Rocker” or “Let There Be Rock.” Angus would weave through the crowd or climb onto stage rigs with Bon perched on his shoulders, engaging the audience in a chaotic rock spectacle.

It symbolized the synergy and chemistry between the two: Bon’s devil-may-care charisma and Angus’s manic energy. Tragically, this era ended with Bon’s death in 1980, but that shoulder-ride remains a defining visual of classic AC/DC.

  3. A nice collections of pics, but your text has it back to front. Guitarist Angus sits on lead singer Bon's shoulders, not the other way around. Also, some of the pictures are of Brian Johnson with Angus on his shoulders.
