Joi Lansing: American Blonde Bombshell of Hollywood From the 1950s

Born in Salt Lake City, Utah, American model, nightclub singer, film and television actress Joi Lansing (1929-1972) was often cast in roles similar to those played by her contemporaries, Jayne Mansfield and Mamie Van Doren. Her earliest work was modeling. Her film career began in 1948.


Lansing had an MGM contract at the age of 14 and completed high school on the studio lot. She was noted for her pin-up photos and roles in B-movies, as well as a prominent cameo in the famous opening "tracking shot" in Orson Welles' crime drama Touch of Evil.
