33 Beautiful Color Photos Capture Daily Life in Japan in the Early 1960s

Born in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, Burt Glinn (1925-2008) served in the United States Army between 1943 and 1946, before studying literature at Harvard University. From 1949-1950, he worked for LIFE magazine before becoming a freelancer.

These beautiful photos were taken by photographer Glinn in Japan in 1961. Capturing the rich culture of Sixties Japan, Burt Glinn’s vivid photographs are a testament to his skills with early color photographic processes.
