I always wondered if the Wally World, National Lampoon Style Vacation in 1969 was my parents idea of keeping me away from Woodstock...unfortunately we stumbled upon the Tate/LoBianco Murders in Cali...So much for trying to protect your kids from the big, bad world of the 60's and 70's...

Second Further bus is now owned by Ken Kesey's son. First bus rotted away on a farm in Oregon. Yes it's the bus in the picture. Google it.

That isn't just any "wildly painted school bus" pictured. That's Ken Kesey's famous bus "Furthur". According to Wikipedia, "In 1969, Further and the (Merry) Pranksters (minus Kesey) made it to the Woodstock rock festival."

A fact apparently (and sadly) lost on the curator of the above collection.

Brilliant photos, although I'm surprised they were unseen until now. Maybe the negatives were hidden in a forgotten box somewhere.

All so cool -- now those remaining are old farts ridiculed by their kids and grandkids for being out of touch.

    Rock on, Scooby Doo.
