  1. ...my father was born in 1937, and used to tell me stories about the "rag man" peddling clean rags, and an ice block used for the "ice box". He was a pinsetter, delivered groceries a golf caddie, and a shoe-shine boy. All in the name of earning money to help feed and clothe his widowed Mom, and 5 younger siblings...hard worker indeed. He passed in 2010 to cancer...oh what I would give to hear him tell me one more of his fascinating stories from yesteryear!

  5. Lectors still exist in some countries. For example, cigar factories in Cuba still employ them.

This article is wrong. Bowling alley's with manual pin setters still exist. Here is an example:

There was a duckpin bowling alley in Cumberland that just closed in December 2014 that always had pinboys. They are hoping to sell someone that will continue it as a bowling alley.

When my Dad was a teen he worked in a Livery stable (rent-a-car for horses) and a generation later we watched men orbit the Moon. In the 1960's I helped fill in a rural burial opened by grave robbers.

We wonder why unemployment is so high. Way more people, less jobs that require people and robots to take peoples places. Isn't technology and greed great?

I saw the picture of the milkman also. Wondered why there was no caption for it. My husband was a milkman until 8 years ago.

  23. the jobs in the pictures is totally old. most of them can be done by machine, some of them are use less. And some job are little bit funny to the people in now, like rat catcher,we don't really need them now, we don't have that much rat in our city. some of the job just for war, like Pre-radar Listener for Enemy Aircraft. other jobs like Resurrectionist are guilt now, and we don't really need them.
why those job exist from our life because we don't need them, and the world is change

  24. I noticed that some of these jobs were quiet weird such as human alarm clock, lamplighter pre-radar because you don't need a human alarm clock because people have invented clocks and the clocks don't need humans to work it they use battery's these days.these jobs don't exsist anymore because people have made better inventions that are simmilar and most of these jobs use electricity these days.I thought these jobs were really weird.
why these jobs don't exsist anymore:these jobs don't exsist anymore because people in this world have better and useful ideas

  25. Some jobs disappear, another new ones appear... evolution
