35 Rare and Adorable Photos of Child Star Natalie Wood in the 1940s

Natalie Wood was born in 1938, the daughter of Russian parents who had emigrated to San Francisco. The young star's film career started in 1945 when she appeared in Tomorrow Is Forever as Orson Welles' ward. She was one of the most talented film stars of her generation, nominated for three Oscars and propelled to stardom at the age of just seven.

As a child actress, Wood received media attention. By age nine, she had been named the "most exciting juvenile motion picture star of the year" by Parents. At age twelve, Wood was ranked as Child Star of the Year by the Children's Day National Council of New York.
