Kays Catalogue Menswear from 1977

Kay and Co Ltd was actually originally founded in Worcester in 1886 when William Kilbourne Kay started a jewellery and watch business with a local architect called George Jones. Four years later Kay struck out on his own and changed the name of the company to Kay’s of Worcester. But on 23 February 2007 their original depot in the town closed. Littlewoods and Kays combined to become Shop Direct which was based in Liverpool. The Kays brand was kept going until January 2011 and is now known as K. and co.

  3. These photos are fantastic!
If you changed the street signs and a few other things this could very well be Chicago too.

Sponge curlers in the women's hair...folks hanging out with friends and neighbors...or out the window...NOI brothers selling their paper...the song that comes to mind when I see these is...
"Diamond in the back, sun roof top, diggin' the scene with a gangster lean...woooo..oooo."

  5. While these are nice pics, there's absolutely nothing "amazing" about them. They're everyday snapshots. Please, stop with the hyperbole.

I don't think I would like to live in a commune "the farm" but the lifestyle looks great... whats funny is I read a lot of the comments and laugh at people putting down the hippie's... when now people wont eat anything unless it is organic, and lets not forget pot is getting legal in states and gay rights are the front runner in the media " Free Love" and "equality"... so as much as these people who want to put down everything cause anything that is different scares them, or the people who just wants to put a horrible comment in to rile up people... the world today is trying SO HARD in some ways to be EXACTLY what the hippies were doing back in the day..... Funny huh? i think it is beautiful... and for those who knew some one, who knew some one, who lived in a commune who was an ass, or mean, or just a horrible person, guess what... every group, has an asshole among them!!!!!!!!!! There is no PERFECT society or group where every single person was perfect...when will humans learn...... History repeats itself!!!!!!!!! Welcome back Hippies!!!!!!

  12. Nothing wrong with living the way that you want to live as long as it doesn't negatively affect how anyone else chooses to live their life. I personally prefer to bathe daily and keep neat, short hair but I like the rest of the natural lifestyle.

  17. Who pissed in your cereal? Who else took similar "everyday snapshots" like this? Please post a hyper-link of them and or great photos of Harlem during this era. If not...STFU.

  18. Who would have ever thought these same people when they got older would become politicians for the Democratic party and embrace fascism and Islamo-Nazism.
